它曾是怎样，我无法诉说，
但是我知道：它只为经过
将阳光灿烂的一天承载
当五月乍到；啊，何其愉快！
仍未有罂粟的幼苗萌现，
在鲜嫩的小麦叶片中间；
仍未孵化最后一颗鸟蛋，
也没有鸟撇下它的同伴。
它曾是什么，我无法诉说，
但是我知道：它只是经过。
它消亡带走五月的辉煌，
就像一切美好终将消亡，
留给我衰老、灰暗和凄凉。
